Two friends, endless movies. A podcast that had to happen. We’re Miles Watts and Katy Cowan, the scarred co-hosts of The Films That Ruined Us. ↓
Who are we?
It began, as all the best ideas do, with two friends talking nonsense about movies. Miles, a filmmaker with a deep love for storytelling, and Katy, an art and design journalist and pop culture aficionado, quickly realised they shared an unshakable obsession with film.
They’d spent years discussing the movies that had ruined them—whether through sheer brilliance, emotional devastation, or just the kind of absurdity that lingers forever.
And so, The Films That Ruined Us was born. Each episode, they pick a genre, choose a film each, and dive deep into why these particular movies changed (or damaged) them. They ask the big questions: What’s the weirdest bit of trivia about this film? On a scale of 1 to 10, how much did it ruin us? And, if it were made today, what would they do differently?
From sci-fi to horror, romance to childhood classics, no genre is safe. Expect passionate debates, ridiculous theories, and a lot of fun along the way.
How It All Started
Meet the Mascot
Say hello to Edgar Allan Pup, the true star of the show. He keeps us happy with his cuddles and smiles. And reminds us to stay grounded. But also not to take life too seriously. Edgar is the perfect companion for watching movies. Just make sure you keep passing the dog biscuits. Then everyone’s happy.
